Fountain House | Supporting Mental Illness in Los Angeles
Government Relations | Stake Holder Engagement | Strategic Communications

The Client

As a nationally recognized mental health nonprofit, Fountain House is committed to improving health, increase opportunity, and end social and economic isolation for people most impacted by mental illness. They address both the health and social needs of members through an integrated model that connects a physical “clubhouse” – where members are engaged in an innovative therapeutic community rooted in Social Practice and take steps in reclaiming their agency and dignity – with access to clinical support, housing, and care management.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was to introduce and connect Fountain House to LA’s local community leaders and decision-makers. As Fountain House expanded its reach to the west, with a new location in Hollywood for its latest “Clubhouse,” it presented an opportunity for the County of Los Angeles to be informed about the invaluable crisis intervention services that this new facility will offer. This required not only the development of a strong brand presence but also the establishment of significant community connections to ensure the services reached and resonated with the intended audience.

The Strategy

Lee Andrews Group was brought on board to act as an extension of Fountain House and orchestrate a multifaceted campaign encompassing branding, communications, and community engagement to establish a new location in Hollywood. By promoting a stronger brand identity and leveraging multi-channel marketing tactics, the group aimed to help secure and facilitate local stakeholders to garner support for the project. With our team's expertise in government relations and strategic communications, the strategy was for Lee Andrews Group to assist in navigating the intricate political landscape and effectively communicate its mission to garner support for mental health service needs in the area.

The Outcome

The Lee Andrews Group's strategic planning efforts have led to the development of a one-year agreement aimed at building trust and support in the community through:

  • Facilitating meetings between Fountain House and Los Angeles stakeholders based on their shared values to promote collaboration.
  • Creating engaging content and collateral to share utilizing social media platforms and digital outreach strategies.
  • Crafting compelling messages that resonate with the diverse audience in Hollywood

This ongoing plan is set to expand Fountain House’s reach and engage with the Hollywood and greater Los Angeles community. With Lee Andrews Group's assistance, Fountain House has been able to establish relationships and gain support from various government and community leaders. The project is set to continue through 2024, marking a significant step towards building and strengthening Fountain House‘s brand and presence.
